Veteran producer R. B. Choudary, the founder of Super Good Films and one of the most respected names in South Indian cinema, tragically died in a car accident near Udaipur on Tuesday morning. The heartbreaking news of R. B. Choudary’s death has left the entire film industry in deep shock and grief.
Legacy in South Indian Cinema
Belonging to a Rajasthani family, Choudary began his cinematic journey in 1988 in the Malayalam film industry before rising as a leading producer in Telugu and Tamil cinema. Over a career spanning nearly four decades, he produced close to 100 films across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi, making Super Good Films one of the most prolific banners in South Indian cinema.
His filmography includes several blockbuster films such as Suryavamsam, Suswagatham, Raja, Ninne Premistha, Simharasi, Sankranti, and GodFather. His banner played a major role in shaping commercial South Indian cinema across multiple generations, backing projects that became defining hits of their respective eras.
Contribution to Tamil Cinema and Vijay’s Career
Choudary was instrumental in the early success of Tamil superstar Vijay by producing several major hits in his career, including Poove Unakkaga, Love Today, Thulladha Manamum Thullum, Shahjahan, Thirupaachi, and Jilla. These films not only became massive commercial successes but also strengthened Vijay’s rise as a leading star in Tamil cinema during the 1990s and 2000s.
The late producer was also the father of Tamil actor Jiiva. According to reports, his body will be brought to Chennai on May 6 for final rites. Several film celebrities and industry personalities have expressed their condolences over his demise.
